Kolebira MLA Enos Ekka convicted for murder of para teacher

Simdega: Former rural development minister and sitting MLA from Jharkhand Party in Kolebira assembly seat Enos Ekka was convicted for the murder of para teacher Manoj Kumar by the court of additional district judge Neeraj Shrivastav on Saturday. The quantum of punishment will be delivered by the court on July 3.

Ekka has been convicted under sections 302 (murder), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of an offence committed), 364A (kidnapping for ransom), 171F (undue influence at an election) of Indian Penal Code and under the Arms Act.

The deceased, Manoj Kumar, was a para teacher in a school at Kolebira area of Simdega district and the presidents of Kolebira Para Teachers' Association. Earlier he was an active member of Ekka's party but before assembly elections 2014, he quit Jharkhand Party and supported a candidate from different party. One day, when he was sitting in the school with his colleague Sanju Nayak, twho criminals took him away on the gun point. The next day his body was recovered from a forest nearby and his family members lodged a named FIR against MLA Enos Ekka.
